There has been tremendous work done with building jurisdictions over the past few years to learn more about and to incorporate retrofit ordinances to reduce the earthquake hazard to buildings, but how prepared is Southern California as a whole?

SEAOSC has partnered with the Dr. Lucy Jones Center for Science and Society to perform a survey of the critical building ordinances and policies that are vital to ensuring that the earthquake hazards to the buildings in our community are minimized.  We will be inviting all 191 cities from Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Imperial, and Ventura counties to hear their Survey results on November 18th and learn how they can partner together with SEAOSC to adopt policies to improves their community buildings’ earthquake performance.

Special thanks and acknowledgment to CALBO (California Building Officials)  for their support of the Safer Cities Survey!  SEAOSC would also like to thank the SEAOC Foundation for supporting the Survey through a research grant.
