The Association's membership year is on an anniversary year. Membership dues will renew annually on the anniversary of your original application. A one-time $50 application fee is currently waived.
Memberships are held by the individual, not by a company. Therefore, even if your company has paid for your membership, if you leave that company, your membership belongs to you. Be sure to keep your member profile up-to-date with your current contact information so we can reach you!
A Registered Civil Engineer with the authority to use the title "Structural Engineer" in the State of California. A Member SE may vote and hold office, serve as director, committee chair or committee member within this association and may serve as director, officer, committee chair or committee member for the structural engineers Association of California (SEAOC).
A Registered Civil Engineer regularly engaged in the practice of structural engineering, or who is conducting research in or holding a teaching position in structural or civil engineering at a university or college, and who in the opinion of a majority of the Board of Directors has established such achievements in structural engineering as to qualify for the grade of "Member".
A Member shall have all the privileges, duties and benefits of a Member SE except holding the office of President, President-Elect or Treasurer of this Association, or serving on the Board of Directors of the Structural Engineers Association of California (SEAOC), or chairing the SEAOC committees of Seismology, Code, Existing Buildings, Vision 2000, or Professional Activities. A Member may chair the above excepted SEAOC committees with the approval of a majority of the SEAOC Board of Directors.
A structural, civil or architectural engineering college graduate (with either a Bachleor's Degree or Master's Degree), not eligible for Member or Member SE status. An Associate shall have all the privileges, duties and benefits of a Member except that the Associate may hold no office and shall have no vote. Associate members will receive additional benefits from SEAOC but not NCSEA. Obtaining a P.E. or S.E.license immediately qualifies an Associate member to upgrade to Member or Member SE classification with no additional dues payment due until the following fiscal year.
A structural, civil or architectural engineering college graduate, less than or equal to 4 years out of school (with either a Bachelor's Desgree or Master's Degree), not eligible for Member or Member SE status. A Young Associate shall have all the privileges, duties and benefits of a Member except that the Young Associate may hold no office, shall have no vote and will not receive additional benefits from SEAOC and NCSEA. Young Associates will automatically upgrade to Associate after 4 years or sooner based on the applicant's college graduation date. Upon notification of PE or SE license obtained, a Young Associate will automatically be upgraded to Member or Member SE classification with no additional dues payment due until the following fiscal year.
An engineering student interested in structural or related engineering enrolled full-time in an accredited engineering school or college. A Student shall have such privileges, duties and benefits of a Member except that the Student may hold no office, shall have no vote and will not receive additional benefits from SEAOC and NCSEA.
Position in an allied field cooperating and/or working closely with structural engineers in the advancement and practice of the technical and professional aspects of structural engineers. Includes, but is not limited to, geologists, CAD technicians, draftspersons, architects, code enforcement officials, and attorneys.
An Affiliate shall have the privileges, duties and benefits of a Member except that the Affiliate may hold no office and shall have no vote.
Position in our industry cooperating with structural engineers and by expression of interest in supporting the goals and purposes of this Association. Includes, but is not limited to, product manufacturers, product certification companies, publishers, and insurance brokers.
An Industry Member shall have all the privileges, duties and benefits of a Member except an Industry Member may hold no office and shall have no vote.
Not a California resident and not included in any other membership category. A Corresponding Member shall have all the privileges, duties and benefits of a Member except a Corresponding Member may not hold office and shall have no vote.
This membership grade may be awarded at the discretion of the Board of Directors to a member in good standing for not less than 20 years who is retired, defined as not holding an office outside the home. Not available to new members. Life (membership grade) is applicable to the membership grades of Member SE, Member, Affiliate, Industry Member or Corresponding Member.
Life (membership grade) shall have the same privileges, duties and benefits as applicable to the Membership grade held at the time of being designated Life (membership grade).
