Meet Incoming SEAOSC Treasurer: Bryan Seamer, SE

July 02, 2025 11:12 PM | Anonymous

SEAOSC is proud to welcome Bryan Seamer, SE, as the incoming Treasurer for the 2025–2026 term. With more than 25 years of experience in structural engineering, Bryan brings a depth of technical knowledge and a passion for advancing the profession. He currently serves as Director of Structural Engineering at LPA Design Studios, the 2025 AIA National Firm of the Year—where he leads a multidisciplinary team of engineers in integrating emerging technologies and innovative design strategies into projects across multiple markets.

Bryan’s expertise spans new construction, seismic assessment, and the rehabilitation of existing buildings. A collaborative leader and effective communicator, he has a proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences—both within LPA and at industry-wide events. He is also a strong advocate for structural engineers’ role in shaping resilient, future-ready communities.

Reflecting on what excites him most about the field, Bryan shares:

“We are in a very exciting period in the history of our profession… Structural engineers must lead the charge in developing designs that use more carbon-efficient materials and push efficient use of those structural materials.”

He also points to the rise of AI as a transformational force:

“The promise of artificial intelligence offers opportunities for more efficient design workflows and more inventive, efficient structural design solutions. We are only at the very beginning of this journey, but I expect it will transform the way we work more profoundly than even the transition from pencil to CAD or from hand calcs to finite element models.”

Bryan earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Southern California and an M.S. from CSU Long Beach. He is licensed in multiple states and has held leadership roles across various industry organizations.

When asked what drew him to the field, Bryan puts it simply:

“Structural engineers are the coolest of all civil engineers... Every new project is “one of one” and people like us get to create places and spaces that improve the lives of people in our communities in a long-lasting way that I find very spiritually rewarding.”
