Bryan Seamer is the Managing Director of Structural Engineering at LPA Inc., an integrated design firm with offices in California and Texas that specializes in creating innovative, sustainable environments that work better, do more with less and improve people’s lives. Seamer joined LPA in 2013 and has focused on the practice and processes of integrating structural, architectural and MEP building systems into elegant holistic design solutions. His progressive designs for education, healthcare, governmental and commercial structures of all sizes are regularly recognized by his peers including garnering multiple engineering design awards from such organizations as SEAOSC, NCSEA, and AISC. Seamer has over 18 years of experience in the design of new construction, high performance seismic design and rehabilitation of new and existing buildings. He is passionate about using emerging technologies and innovative design strategies to create safer and more cost effective built environments. His extensive experience in seismic design includes both preventative seismic rehabilitation projects throughout the United States and recovery and rebuilding projects following the recent devastating earthquakes in Haiti and New Zealand. Seamer holds engineering degrees from the University of Southern California and California State University at Long Beach and is a licensed structural engineer in California, Texas, Washington and Minnesota. Mr. Seamer actively contributes to the advancement of structural engineering education and development, serving on the Advisory Board for the Architectural Engineering department at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, on the Technical Advisory Committee of the US Resiliency Council and as Chairperson of the LPA Foundation. He is also a regular speaker at conferences and events on topics related to seismic design, retrofit and resiliency.
