30 Years After Loma Prieta: Lessons Learned in Diaphragm Design

Thursday, October 17, 2019

WEBINAR:

Lessons Learned in Diaphragm Design

The Loma Prieta Earthquake struck the San Francisco bay area 30 years ago on October 17, 1989, causing billions of dollars’ worth of damage. A significant portion of the structural damage observed in the aftermath of this quake stemmed from the approach to diaphragm design that was common practice at the time. On the 30th anniversary of this historic disaster, we will look back at the pitfalls of inadequate diaphragm design and see how the lessons learned from Loma Prieta impact the current diaphragm design methodology.
