All,
After a few more months of gathering names. I believe we might have a core group that is able to help get us going. Thank you for your patience.
For those of you who missed my first emails, and because it has been a while…
Over the past few years the SEAOSC Board has been working to align our committee structure with how we serve the industry. Although each year we have our joint dinner meeting with ACI, we have not had as strong tie with the concrete industry as perhaps we should.
The goal behind forming and maintaining a Concrete Committee is to bring together SEAOSC-based subject matter experts. This committee would help our overall membership address, solve and communicate topics of interest and importance for concrete. As subject matter experts, the committee would be a resource for our membership at large, as well as being available to coordinate with our other committees (such as New Buildings, Existing Buildings, or Seismology and Hazards), when questions regarding concrete structures and behavior need support.
In my first attempts to get us going I found that Doodle polls did not help as much as I would have hoped. So, as with the Wood committee, I’ll just start by setting aside two Friday’s (3/20 and 4/3) to get us started. Please check your availability. I’ll be covering the same basic information on both calls, but the questions may be different, so please join both if you can.
The agenda for the first meeting(s) will be simple:
Introductions:
1. Interest in Joining:
2. Goal(s): Provide a dedicated resource for Wood Expertise to ensure State of Practice topics are reaching our membership.
3. Committee Structure: (See attached)
a. SEAOSC Policies
b. Chair, Co-Chair, Board Liaison
c. Structural Standards Committee – purpose
4. Questions/Comments
5. Next Meeting
6. Adjourn
Once we get this going, I’ll duck out and get out of the way.
Again, thank you for your interest, I and the Board look forward to working with you to get this started. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to find me at a dinner meeting or drop me an email.
I look forward to hearing you on the call.
Best, Ken
