About the Speakers

DR. VIDA TARASSOLY

Dr. Vida Tarassoly holds a Ph.D. in structural engineering, is a registered civil/structural engineer and is a licensed contractor (A&B, Hazmat) in California. Dr. Tarassoly is the President of Rubicon Engineering Corporation (Tustin, CA), a woman-owned business providing environmental and structural engineering services. She is a member of the California Bar and the principal attorney at the Law Office of Dr. Vida Tarassoly (Costa Mesa, CA, practicing Construction Law. Dr. Tarassoly is a certified mediator and a dispute resolution advisor approved by Caltrans.

With over 25 years of experience in the technical engineering and construction fields, Dr. Tarassoly offers her clients a unique combination of legal and technical expertise in multiple capacities as legal counsel, technical expert, and construction claims manager devising strategies to mitigate and resolve disputes. She offers facilitative and evaluative mediation methods through which she interjects her technical expertise to evaluate the strength of the parties' claims and assist them in reaching reasonable and equitable resolutions.

KARIN THORP

Karin is a Sr. Account Executive in the design professional practice group of AssuredPartners Design Professionals Insurance Services, LLC and Team Manager for the Costa Mesa office. With over 25 years of experience in Property & Casualty insurance and Risk Management, Karin leads the marketing and insurance placement for more technical risks associated with large firms. Her specialties include loss forecasting, experience mod analysis, risk assessment and analysis, and hazard identification.

JEFF CROSIER

Jeff Crosier, S.E., is Senior Principal at Miyamoto International, Inc., a global earthquake + structural engineering firm with 21 offices in 13 countries around the world. Jeff oversees the domestic operations, teams of structural engineers and has completed more than 3,000 projects in a career spanning 35 years. His aim on a variety of projects in the healthcare, education, medical and commercial sectors is to develop innovative structural and seismic engineering solutions for clients. His experience includes developing detailed program plans, designing new structures and rehabilitating existing buildings with both conventional and alternative construction methods.
